COPPA Compliance
Special statement regarding the collection of information from and/or about children younger than 13 years old:
In order to comply with The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, the American Who's Who Association and it's publication Who’s Who Registry of Academic Excellence asks that anyone younger than 13 years old NOT submit any personal information about themselves, or any other person younger than 13 years old, unless the parents or legal guardians of all involved provide approval prior to entering information on this site, via US Mail, or by contacting our organization by telephone. Since the first contact we make with a student is through an invitation letter by mail which is addressed to the parents of that student, there is already knowledge by that adult that their child has been invited to visit this website and to complete information about themselves on our secure site. In addition, the American Who's Who Association and it's publication Who’s Who Registry of Academic Excellence asks adults to NOT send personal information about any child younger than 13 years old, unless the child is your own, or in your legal custody, or unless the parent or legal guardian has given written permission for you to do so, such as on our nomination link. If you have questions about the Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule, visit the Federal Trade Commission online at http://www.ftc.gov/kidzprivacy. You also may call the FTC's Consumer Response Center toll-free at 1-877-FTC-HELP (382-4357), or write Consumer Response Center, Federal Trade Commission, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20580.
If You're a Student
Always talk to your parents before filling out information on this site or any internet site for that matter. It is crucial that you keep your parents involved in your entire web surfing activities.
If You're a Parent
The American Who's Who Association, through it's publication, Who’s Who Registry of Academic Excellence, strongly believes in a complete hands-on involvement with your child regarding their recognition in the publication and while accessing this website, not to mention your child's overall involvement in daily activities. Any non-personal information which we obtain by your child will be included in our secure database and published in the annual publication with your signature of approval. We encourage you to get involved throughout this process and to fully understand how truly special it is that your son or daughter was selected to be recognized in Who’s Who Registry of Academic Excellence.
